Why haven’t Obama and the DNC discussed yet what current policies need to be changed?

Eric S asked:

I have always been a Democrat, but this Democratic National Convention is honestly one of the weakest campaigns I’ve ever seen in my life. The following questions have yet to be addressed at the DNC:

1) In what ways will Senator Barack Obama will make the most effective leader to carry out and deliver on Democrat policies, on national defense, on the war on terror, as commander-in-chief, etc.
“Who exactly is Obama, what should we know about the presidential candidate that we have not yet learned?”

2) What current policies does Obama specifically want to change (there’s of course good change and bad change)?
-Do you want to raise taxes on the wealthy?

-Do you want government to tax oil profits?

-How do you plan to finance universal healthcare?

-How long do you expect the investments on alternative fuels to
effectively reduce the consumer burden at the pump?

-How will withdrawing from Iraq immediately make America safer?

3) Does the Democratic party back up their campaign statements with fact? For example, Hilary Clinton said that McCain does not believe women should get equal pay for the same work. When did he say this? How did he imply this? We need references.

I’m not saying the Democrats don’t have strong potential arguments, perhaps they have a lot they can discuss!!!!

They just aren’t doing it for some reason. Am I right?
Also a lot of talk about alternatives to gasoline. About solar and hydrogen energy sources. How long will it take till these sources can replace gasoline and the new alternative cars are “affordable”.

This is what the people really want to know. These are serious issues, more important than ideology and making poetry and prose about women’s rights, etc.
LASTLY NAME ONE POLICY THAT IS CURRENTLY WRONG.

Here are just some suggestions:

Capital gains tax should be 20% instead of 15%? -Discuss real estate crisis.

Social Security – Retiring Babyboomers, why not discuss THIS crisis?

I think because they do not want to expose his socialist liberal agenda. Liberalism almost never wins.

I’m pretty sure they have been addressing these issues, but to be clear, the convention is not a “campaign event”. Their purpose is to a. rally the party behind a common platform and b. nominate a ticket for the general election.

They haven’t discussed any real issues because they are all still caught up in the euphoria of “change we can believe in”. Unfortunately, Obama and his minions haven’t provided any specificity on what this “change” will mean. So the campaign of “platitudes” will continue unfortunately…

now now…. we can’t be asking democrats to be specific, it is against their nature. To ask a direct question (of Obama and or democrats)returns a fatal error system crash.

Pretty much all of these have been discussed and explained ad nauseum…..the primaries/campaigning have been going on for well over a year….

The DNC, much like the RNC, are pep rallies man. Nothing more and nothing less over the last 20 years.

First of all, there have been references to specific policies in some speeches, but it is a political convention, a TV event, not a policy wonk discussion. You aren’t gonna get very many specific policy recommendations during the Republican National Convention either. However, I am sure that Obama will address some specifics during his speech Thursday night. The convention thus far has mostly been about who Obama is. Thursday I am pretty sure he will give more info about what he intends to do.

Secondly, if you are as curious as you imply that you are, then why haven’t you visited Obama’s web site in order to get detailed information on the policy recommendations and positions of the candidate? There is a great deal of information there. The link is provided below.

you are in the wrong party. Dont feel bad so was Ronald Reagan.

you are very clearly NOT a Democrat, or at least a completely uninformed one.

the answer to nearly everything you posted has been on Obama’s website for months.

for example, the tax brackets have been outlined down to the dollar… if you make $169,480.00 per year or less, you will get a tax break. if you make between that and $250,000.00 per year, your taxes will remain the same. above that, your taxes will go up.

they are saying these things; apparently the news you watch or listen to isn’t covering them.
