Are conservatives anti-education because nearly every discipline proves some part of their religion is false?

Biff H asked:

It’s not just evolution. (Astronomy and geology have also proven the bible wrong.)

And it’s not just science. (Philology, or the study of ancient texts, often paired with comparative religion, reveals practically every biblical idea arising independently in other, older religions around the world. That makes world history in general a threat, as well as philosophy. In addition, the oldest biblical manuscripts unearthed by archeology reveal contradictory versions of the stories, so we know they were altered even long ago. Psychology and sociology have shown that irrational, superstitious inventions are quite common in people.)

Basically, the only fields that don’t challenge conservatives are busines, math and finances. Is it any surprise that the religious have ended up so closely aligned to big business an consumer culture?

What about conservatives who are educators? Doesn’t that kinda put a hole in your theory?

    Conservatives are Pro Constitution.

The Constitution provides for freedom to choose which religion you believe in or do not believe in. It also ensures the Federal Government does not promote any one over others.

I do not care as a Conservative what you believe in in the field of Religion. Until it crosses the line and effects others through some type of abuse or neglect. (underage marriage, religious laws that are harm full to others etc.)

Not sure why you care what Religion I believe in to be honest.

    Whoah.

First off, you assume far too much. Only few conservatives are actually like that.

I’m very much an advocate for the study of evolution, comparative religion, world history, philosophy, sociology, and psychology.

    And I’m a conservative.

religion has nothing to do with for me…it is the liberal indoctrination i cannot stand. my son is 17 and goes to sweet home high school, sweet home oregon, population 8900. on coronation day, they had to watch obama on tv, while it was piped over the intercom. he told me about it, and i didn’t believe him really so i inquired about it with the highschool principal, and he confirmed it. i am 41, and went to the same school and have seen a few inagurations, BUT NEVER AS THE LAST ONE WAS CONDUCTED IN SCHOOL…fock liberal indoctrination….fock public school

We spend billions and billions on Education and the students cannot even understand the basic ‘s Lincoln learned in a one room school house, without air conditioning or computers or a teacher’s union or school bus’s
the fact that 2/3 of all American’s believe in the Bible regardless of pseudo Scientific facts ,is reason enough to teach it along side the liberal religion called Evolution
Yes , I do believe that liberals evolved from apes, I won’t argue with you about that, but you must also respect the fact that GOD made me***********

Conservatives are motivated by “beliefs” and “values” not by research and data.

This is why they attack people who contradict them, whether they understand the contradiction or not. Truth is not important to them, only ideology.

They hate education which is why they push “Bible Study” in their schools. Why bother learning about plate tectonics when it is EASIER to just belief a spook in the sky hiccuped and brought the world into being?

Why study biology when the “Man Upstairs” sculpted each and every little animal in the world by hand?

Why accept that their basic, fundamental belief system is a lie when fundamental to that belief system is the notion that everyone who disagrees with it deserves death and eternal sufferring?

These people are no better than animistic primitives who give blood sacrifices to angry gods to stave off his wrath. They imagine God as angry because they can’t conceive of a God who wouldn’t hate them…in part, because they hate themselves so much.

You are aware that evolution itself is just a theory, and it is one that cannot ever be proven ( short of time travel ).

And having beliefs show up from multiple sources actually makes something more credible, not less.

I tend to be pretty sceptical about the existence of god, but that doesn’t mean we need to jump to false logic to convince ourselves.

Philosophy has done a poor job of defending faith too, don’t forget about that. Descartes saying “God is good and kind and would not allow me to believe in him unless he really existed” WTF??? That sounds just like something that would be said in R&S!!

Not quite reaching the heights of “I think therefore I am” that’s for sure….and kind of contradicting the premise in that one too.Not a lot of thought went into the proof of religion one.
    LOL!!

Impressive. Yeah, none of the books written by the Nostics are included in ‘the bible’. In my opinion, the bible is nothing more than a means to control the masses. You obviously know about religions and politics. As I have said before, when the church and state hold hands, Inquisition anyone? How about a nice crusade?

I don’t know but anytime I see killing in the name of religion or god, it sure makes me wonder.

There was a song Steppenwolf did back in the day called The Pusher.
It contains one of my favorite lines about hypocrisy. Well I’ll cut him if he stands and I’ll shoot him if he runs, I’ll kill him with my bible and my razor and my gun. If you are not of the religious right and pro business, do the math, you are their enemy. It’s god’s will.

A lot of conservatives are pea-brains, but creation is still true.
