Ashley asked:

I’ve never financed anything before (I do have credit though so I know I can get one).
I’m wanting to finance my breast augmentation & I had a question.
It’s going to cost me a little over $4300 and I was wondering if you could pay the doctor half of that and then finance the rest or if you had to finance the total lump sum & then you make bigger payments on the monthly payments to get it paid off faster.
Or which way is better?

Thank you all SO much

Jonathan

I said NO, Direct TV was NOT given permission to draw my money.

As an easier way to pay my bill I enrolled in “pay online” with EACH transaction to be ONE TIME ONLY.But they robbed me when then they took nearly $200 from my bank acct. Without my knowledge.
I shudder to think how many poor consumers have been violated this way; and said nothing.
I know that not all reading this is supplied satellite TV by Direct TV; but those that do; need to keep a close check on their online accounts with them.
I am contacting an attorney Monday, to see if I can bring fraud charges or theft.

I am very “aja-tated”………

StripedLife asked:

On August 29, 2005 my home and belongings washed away in the storm surge of Hurricane Katrina. Prior to the storm I had financed a computer purchase through Dell. This computer was destroyed in the storm. I now have a collection agency threatening legal action to collect for the balance of the computer plus about 2000.00 in finance charges and late fees. My federal flood insurance proceeds did not include any contents coverage at all, only structure damage and loss. I have been told by several people that items lost in natural disasters are exempt from collection action as stated by the Fair Trade Consumer Protection Act. However, I can’t find information on this particular issue anywhere. Can anyone help me, provide assistance, or guidance? I have been all over the FTC website to no avail. Thank you!

Bernice

DonaldRenal asked:

The world of finance has changed dramatically over the course of recent decades. It wasn’t all that long ago that all that a young person really needed was an active savings account and some common sense and they were pretty much OK. Times have really changed though and now each day a persons mailbox is stuffed with glossy come-ons from predatory lenders that only point up the fact that banks are no longer the “friend” of the consumer.

Teaching Personal Finance is Important Today

So if it seems that every lending institution is determined to strip their clients bare, where does that leave todays young people who have to face an even more stark future in the world of personal finance? What this all points up to is that the first priority of every parent should be teaching personal finance to their kids no matter how young they are.

Shark Infested Waters

Where to start though? Have you taken a recent look at todays average credit card contract? Its three pages of fine print that detail every method that they are going to screw you out of every dime that they can get. The problem though, is that it is written in todays “financial language” which is incomprehensible to the average consumer.

Its Each Parents Responsibility

The good news is that there are now places to procure comprehensive teaching material such as videos and courses online. This teaching material is custom crafted for the eyes and ears of young people and it comes in beginner, all the way up to advanced levels. Teaching personal finance to your children is the best gift that that you can give them right now and it is something that they will thank you for when they get older and out on their own.

Learn the Easy Way or the Hard Way

Remember, that there are two ways to learn things in life. The first way is the easy way and the second way is the hard way. If you fail to teach personal finance to your kids the easy way when they are young then others will teach them the hard why when they are out in the world on their own.

Yolanda

Hard Core Dance Poles asked:

If you have the Pay History form the Finance Company and you have submitted your Banking Financial Statements along with a copy of the cleared check, and on the Pay History that you optained from them, it does not show that payment credited to you account. Because that payment was not credited it has accumulated additional unnecessary Fee’s etc.. and the You have Emailed the infor 6 times, tried by telephone to resolve, finally get the Manager over Collections, send him all of the Info By Courier, and come to find out he doesnt even look at it , doesnt call you back, lies to you when you ask if he is coming to get your car, and then orders a outside agency to go to the sheriffs dept to optain some kind of warrant so that you have to hand over your car to them when they come, and the Collections manager does all of this AFTER telling you to submit AGAIN your proof and will discuss your file with you to get it resolved. What can a consumer do to prevent this?
And you have been trying to get this resolved now for over a year. But yet No one at Finance Company look at the paper work, they just assume you are wrong and they are right. Is there something that you can file with the court to stop the repo to make a Judge look at the situation or a Mediator ? Because if they take it then , Out a Vehicle, and I know that you can file suit for Unlawfull Repo, but what can be done before that happens?

Lloyd

markywarky asked:

I purchased a car from Carcraft and they arranged finance with a company, they stated at the time it was accepted,I signed all the documents and have copies of them including a contract of sale by Carcraft, and a finance agreement with the HP company regulated by the consumer credit act 1974…I drove home that day in my new car (6 days ago) They called today stating the finance was actually declined but someone in carcrafts office put it all through as though it was accepted. I went back today and they’ve taken the key and I drove home in my old car which was the deposit & part ex.
I really want my new car and I feel this is wrong…… Do I have anything to go on or should I just accept it?? I really need some help and i’m going to call Citizens advice tomorrow but what do you guys think? oh, also they have sent the V5 off to the DVLA putting the car in my name already and vice versa for my old car???

Ray

moonlight_night78 asked:

So here’s my situation…

I have a 2005 Chevy Malibu that I financed from Consumer Portfolio Services (afterwards refered to as CPS) beginning in May of 2007. This is mostly becasue of getting in an accident which totalled the car that I had the previous October. I knew that my credit wasn’t the best with having a lot of student loans and working a job that wasn’t giving me consistant hours, leaving Sallie Mae to drag my credit through the mud (but that neither here or there).

Anyway, back to CPS. I lost my job back in April of this year and quickly got another job and am working on getting promoted. However with trying to work with CPS, they have been nothing short of terrible. They gave me 1 deferment where they were supposed to change my due date and defer a payment, but only did the latter forcing me to pay $1200 to get current again (so they lied to me). After getting another job, I started paying again, but can’t make the due date they set for me every month. I have tried to reach them to work something out, which I talked to one person 2 weeks ago, and since then their line is always busy, or disconected, or their call center is closed (I almost feel like I’m the one they owe money to and their ducking and dodging me).

What I’m looking for is somebody that will be able to refinance my car loan and get me away from these people. Even if I have to pay out longer for my car at a lower price, I pay $390 now so I’d rather have a payment book (something CPS doesn’t offer) and people that I can reach when I need to, than these people that I can never seem to reach or call back.

Also legitimate answers only, don’t need any bs about being irresponsible or my having bad credit.

Frank
